Thank you for taking time to learn more about the Education Equity Action Plan Coalition.

The work we are doing is groundbreaking, relevant, and crucial for all students and communities. This initiative has been a half century in the making – with advocates who have gone before us, and those who still stand with us, crying out for a diverse and empowering educational curriculum that better reflects the voices, experiences, influences, and legacies of Black people for the benefit of all students and the improvement of the greater public education system.

The EEAP Coalition was officially formed in response to a study by the Black Education Research Collective (BERC) that found students of color were overwhelmingly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and the tidal wave of racial injustice that followed. There was an unwavering demand to integrate Black history, culture, and influences into the existing public school curriculum. The EEAP Coalition is a testament to what can happen when institutions and visionary leaders come together to support, nurture, and develop the academic growth and development of children.

The New York City Council Members from the Black, Latino, and Asian Caucus (B-L-A-C) helped provide funding for The United Way of New York City, Eagle Academy Foundation, Black Eduflencers-United, Association of Black Educators of New York, Inc. (ABENY), and BERC to bring the Black Studies curriculum, professional development, mental health training, and community and academic support to reality.

We hope that you will partner with the EEAP Coalition to push for an empowered educational system that benefits all students.
